Ray,

Almost positively (unless you have a prototype trans!) your
original cast iron torqueflite got replaced.  1962 ONLY aluminum
TFs still had the drum emergency brake on the end of the trans
like all the '56-61 cast iron jobs.  In '63 the e-brake system
became part of the assemblies at the axle ends.  So, if your
alum TF has a drum e-brake on it, you have a '62 trans swapped
into your car.  While not authentic, it save a few pounds and
some (me included) would consider it a nice upgrade.
