[FWDLK] FW: air cleaners

A little further to what Ron has correctly stated about dual quad air
cleaners:

The '57 Fury and '57 Chrysler 300C use identical "off to side" air cleaner
housings. The '57 Adventurer is very similar but slightly different. The
'57 Dodge is off to the side but much larger due to available hood
clearance. The Dodges are black but all the others are a gold-bronze in
color.

The single quad air cleaners are all black and are all different than the
dual quad types.

For '58 and '59 all Mopars use a gold-bronze low-profile oval that sits
directly on top of the carburetors.

The '58 EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) -equipped Mopars require a different
air cleaner base but use the same gold-bronze low-profile oval element and
lid.

The 1962 Chrysler 300H with dual quads also uses the '58-59 style.

There is an excellent reproduction made is Sweden (I believe) of the '58-59
style.

Hopefully not to confuse the '57 issue as regards the 300C, but I recently
learned the very first few "pilot"-assembled cars off the '57 production
line had unique side-mounted air cleaners that had a similar overall
appearance and color, but differed slightly in the stamping of the oval and
in the neck area.

Ray -

The 57 Fury and 300C share the same dual quad air cleaners. Dodge dual quad
air cleaners are unique to the make. Ditto Desoto. In 58, they were all the
same (1852568), except Fuel Injection models.

Good question George. I always thought there was just the one type of
'gooseneck' air cleaner, but I have seen several just lately. It would seem
the 57 C had its own, the 57 Fury yet another, while the 57 Adventurer had
yet another. And those are just the ones I know about. And usually it turns
out I don't know near what I thought I did......
