If anyone has an answer to this, please post it to the
list.  I have the same problem with my 58 Ply. The only
way I found to keep it from scraping the edge of the
cowl was to move the hood far forward, leaving a
noticeable gap.  Never thought it was a function of weak
hood hinges.
