[FWDLK] Selling 56 Belvedere(s), Your Opinion Please

Hello everyone,

I hope this finds you all well and having a wonderful
holiday season. I apologize in advance for the length
of this email, I just shortened it as much as I could.

Jason has had his 56 Belvedere 4 dr sedan for over
four years and he is now in college. The college is
close (35 miles) and he drives home to work every
weekend. He loves his car but realizes that it is not
a practical car to be a daily driver, especially in
the Chicagoland winter (before college, this was not a
problem, but now he needs daily transportation). He
has decided to sell the Belevdere and buy a more
practical car (rear window defogger, ABS brakes,
worthy windshield wipers, able to be left outside and
still start in the morning, etc.). The car is
continuing to deteriorate being driven daily.

The 56 is in faily good shape. Showing surface rust
now and some bubbles here and there. Interior is
excellent (new paint, NOS front seat material, new
vinyl dye on seats/door panels, etc.) except for
headliner and windlace which are both rotted and need
replacing. Runs pretty well on John Bartell's 318
from his 59 Plymouth (remember, the 277 blew a
piston), but it is kinda rough and now smokes some.
Chrome is good to excellent and all glass is free of
cracks. New rear brakes and muffler. New rebuilt
starter.

The second 56 Belvedere, from Texas, is a complete
car. 277 runs but needs a cam (we think). No cancer,
just browning on the surface from the Texas weather.
Interior dry rotted, chrome ok and all glass is good.
This is a perfect parts car, or easily restored if
someone wanted. Third engine (277 with blown piston)
and third powerflight trans (from John's 318) also in
the trunk and back seat of the Texas car.

So now your opinions please....

We could list it on eBay as a package. We could sell
them separately or part out the Texas car on eBay (but
I'd rather see it restored). We could try to list
them locally in the Chicago area papers and old car
papers, internet services, etc., either separately or
as a package.

If we list it on eBay, we'd want to insure that we got
a fair price. Should we list it with a high reserve
and see if the highest bid is acceptable - or - list
it with a bottom line low price we would take and hope
to get it?

Bigger problem - we have no idea what it may be
worth. We realize we'll not get out of it what we put
in it (especially with replacing the engine) but we
thought that both cars together might be worth between
$3000 - $4000. Maybe not, we really don't know (maybe
more, we really don't know).

If you have any ideas as to how best sell and/or what
we should expect to get please contact me privately.

Jason and I thank you and wish you happy holidays.

Joe and Jason
56 Belvederes
