Re: [FWDLK] 57 D-500-1 question

I suppose I should check my archives, but via
c.c. of this e-mail to Lee Smith (who owns D501-1005--it's now viewable
@ Don Garlit's
museum, in FL) , the D501 had carbs 2534S &
2535S, [which were 1957 300/Adv units, NOT
1956'ers, right??] The Super-D500 had 2633S & 2634S [which were the
same as Furies, right??]. The D500 carb was 2622S. The "Power-Package"
4-bbl was 2532S.

These 'numbers' are correct, but off-hand, the
"applications" of them might be incorrect (sue me).

Lee Smith has said that the D501 exhaust valves were sodium filled
(like those used in the 58 fulie engines).

I also believe (should KNOW/remember , off-hand!) that the camshaft was
hotter/different
from 56-- '57cam?)

I do know that the D501's "flowed" better than the "B", by virtue of
having the Dodge truck 4bolt exhaust manifolds, & the "B" engines heads
breathed better than the "C" engine.

Anyway, the 'point' is, the D501 engine was NOT just a 354 c.i. 300B
engine.
