Vincent, Black-plates have EVERYTHING to do with provenance--that the
car is a survivor (not a "reserected", or pieced-together "restoration",
or a long-term stored-non-driver. The subject car was registered, and
presumably DRIVEN, over the many-years.

Black plates, on "our" cars, are kinda like virginity--once they're
gone (thru abandonment, non-registration, for over 4-years, or
total-loss, or surrender/newer-plate
/different-state issuance)--you CAN'T get-it back. AND there is a
cachet involved in the very simple/plain format, of the plates--three
simple numbers & letters--nuthin cute or fancy, just the Real-Deal.

Neil (blue plate holder)
