[FWDLK] Overseas shipping

So my friend with his '61 Dodge Polara ragtop that everyone here has seen
and concluded was so much junk, has a buyer for the asking price.

The gentleman is from overseas, Sweden to be specific. He's asked enough
questions to appear not be one of the scams that's been going around, has
called my friend on the phone etc. - to be sure, he won't take a cashiers
check - but anyways.. he does seem to be serious about the car, and might
take another one if I can ever go verify that this other car even exists.

The problem comes in here. He says he needs a title to get this car into
his country. The car hasn't been on the road in ages, but here in New York
they never required a title until 1973 and even out of state cars that have
a title, you don't need here to register the car. I have the PA title for
that '60 Pontiac put up in a file folder with the rest of the paperwork from
it, DMV didn't even want to see it.

So there's no title for the car - it was sold locally and never had one in
the first place, and no way to get one short of paying someone in say
Pennsylvania to register/insure the car for however long they need you to
register it for the title to be transferrable. (I understand they will
accept a NYS registration as proof of ownership and give you a new PA title
for the car if the paperwork is all in order, could be wrong, but I asked
once given mine went from PA to NY what happens when you go the other way
around).

So the question is (and forgive me if I asked this once before and can't
remember) - what can I get this guy to give to his customs people to show
ownership of the car? I asked in the DMV when renewing my liscense and
they didn't have anything to offer - don't know why they couldn't just make
a title for export for it, but then it's not like you ship out a lot of 1972
and earlier cars these days.

Waiting to file in my shipping data pile -

Thanks

Bill K.
