I know this isn't possible for everyone, but I was able to take a couple of front fenders for my car that were junk; eyebrows totally rusted out, bottoms rusted out.  Cut out the junk and the remainder worked as perfect patch panels for the rear 1/4.  Didn't even have to do much shaping, as the contours of the front fender are the same as the rear. . .

The MetalCrafters ones are no longer available.  You can buy a patch panel
which goes from the rear to partway up the wheel well from Showcars in Canada.
