2.9% plus 29 cents adds up after a while, if I sell something for $220 it's
a $7 fee.

If I'm getting the money from an overseas buyer, the fees are even higher.

eBay has specific rules that do not allow me to pass on the fees, so as a
result most sellers are inflating shipping prices to try to cover some of
the costs.  What's the point of selling a $10 item if there's $5 in fees?


I posted on this weeks ago, there are a couple of other services available -
one called Certapay and I forget the other one but you can find it by name
in eBay's silly Safe Payments Policy rules page.

ONLY way to go!

As you state more and more sellers refuse to take payPal (they use it for
their buys) but seem too cheap to take it for their listings.

 I believe they are really missing the boat!

They claim high cost, but in fact that stand may by costing them money.....I
do not bid if I am unable to use payPal!

(I even take it and have used it to buy and sell big ticket cars...)

In this world of scams "N" scum, bidders need the safety that payPal
affords.
If you find payPal costly then account for it in your pricing it is a cost
of doing business, just like taking visa....

  Quite troublesome for me as a foreigner who's only option besides PayPal
was BidPay.

  And since more and more sellers are no longer accepting PayPal I have to
let go of some nice stuff I see on eBay so every now and then. I hate that.
