My 58 DeSoto Firesweep, looks original, has body color fire wall,
black heater and accessories and black inner fenders and radiator
support. My 300 D, I know it is a repaint but probably original
colors, is all body color under the hood except engine and accessories.

Hmm, I wonder if the paint under the hood depends on marque or assembly plant.
All agree that the firewall should be body color (not surprising).
As for inner fenders and radiator support, so far I have 3 votes for
black, and 3 votes for body color.
Two of the 3 votes for body color are based on CHRYSLER
observations: one '57 and one '59.
Two of the 3 votes for black are based on '57 Dodge/Plymouth observation.
Any other Dodge or Plymouth people out there want to chime in ?

Subject: [FWDLK] What color should firewall, inner fenders, and
radiator support be?
My '59 dodge was repainted numerous times, and the engine
compartment cheapy detailed at some point. the firewall, inner
fenders, and radiator support are satin black. all nee to be
redone as it is now rusty/greasy/scratchy.
Whould these items be black or the same color as the car ? My
friend who knws '60 and up thinks it should be the same as the
car. he has a '59 Chrysler parts car that is all original, and
thru the rust you can see that those items were the car color, not
black. Same for Dodge ?
Thanks,
Lou
