[FWDLK] convertible tacking strips

Hello list-

 

First, thanks to all those who replied with excellent suggestions on my kick panel project.

 

Now then- I am replacing the top on my mid sixties convert. The roof bows have tacking strips pressed into them, which are used to hold both the top pads and convertible top on.

My strips are brittle with age, and I would like to replace them. They appear to be made of rubber and are press fitted into the roof bows. I have found one source of supply but need to know if I can make these myself. has anyone successfully attempted this? I'd appreciate any advice.
