[FWDLK] Fwd: Re: [FWDLK] Generic Motors & the Blue Offal

Yeah, Marv; LOL---the "memorable" part of the 'Drifting' exibition
involved my ears and nose!!!

BTW, there was @ least ONE vestige of the Chrysler sponsorship at the
B-J, in the form
of the "exclusive" Bidder's Bar, which featured a/the new Challenger
prototype, finished in a sort of combination AMC 'Rambler Rebel" and
Challenger T/A white/red/blue paint scheme, with the car placed on top
of an elevated podium, readily-visible to passers-by.

Nobody's yet mentioned that this year saw the further demise of
Chrysler, as it declined/failed to sponsor the B-J auction.

Neil,  Don't take it so hard.  Let our cars speak for themselves and be glad that Ford will subsidize with what little money they have an event that allows Forward look cars to sell for hundreds of thousands and Plymouth Cuda's for  millions.. I know I am.. hey it now takes two companies to cover the subsidy that Chrysler provided.  And I am sure if it was felt that they were getting the marketing value out of it, then they would have continued...   I suspect the cost was raised each year to the point where DC said "enough is enough" and that they didn't want to share the stage with GM or Ford.  At this years event you were confused since both companies, Ford and GM, had their products in the entrance.  And all of those signs hanging from the ceiling were useless.. The only thing I saw that was memorable was Ford's drifting race outside.  That probably had marketing value and made an impression on the group.
