There are / were a couple of "Lifetime Filters" add-ons that might work for you. One used a reusable sintered 
bronze cartridge that fit in the original canister, another used toilet paper as the filter element, in a larger 
canister. I've used both and they work quite well but the toilet paper was a real PITA to replace.

There is the option of using a remote filter setup which uses current day screw-ons.

As far as replumbing for full-flow I really can't think of an easy way to do that.
