Re: [FWDLK] TORQUEFLITE TRANS ADJUSTMENTS

How many turns you back off the adjustment screw depends on what ratio the kickdown lever is, inside the trans. It needs to be tight enough to keep from slipping on upshifts but still loose enough to let go before the high clutch applies. What feels like a firm shift into direct is often times a situation where the high-gear clutch is applying before the kickdown band is released, aka an "overlap" condition, a situation detrimental to the life of the trans. It's better to have the kickdown band adjusted so that you feel the trans sort of slide into top gear, under full throttle conditions. It's best to follow follow the book specs as far as adjustment is concerned, of course if someone has been in there before changing parts, you could be on your own.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone ever expirimented with ,or heard of anyone attempting to adjust tight,,or loose,, the kickdown band on the drivers side of the trans.

I am just wondering how 'critical' an adjustment it is and exactly what happens to the shift points or quality of the shift if you are a turn one way or the other

Thanks to all
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
