     Regarding the leaky trany, I would guess the problem is (1) the front seal needs replacing, or (2) the torque converter has been rebuilt and the weld has a pin hole in it.

     I have the same problem with a leaky powerflite in a 56 Plymouth and I just put oil absorbant under the car and top off the fluid once in a while.  Old cars sometimes leak.
