Well,
You know if the swap was done in the 60's or 70's I can assure you the mounts would have cracked by now. I've seen many, many rubber mounts from that era that are OEM and cracked to hell n back...so that is no evidence that it is the original engine.
The more the evidence that I see on this (wrong color paint, no dimples on the covers, no 354 offered that year) the more it appears that this is indeed a engine swap...my guess is that it could have been done in the early 70's when people were 'hot rod crazy' and swapping engines right and left. Many a 50's car that was considered just an old beater at that time suffered a number of modifications. Anybody remember Spring Shackles 'Put's the rear WAAAAAAAY in the air...or some of the wild offerings in the JC Whitney catalog??
Bottom line,
I think we have proven it is not the original motor,
BUT
Still a nice example of a FL car. Even if it is altered, it is still a beautiful car- and way out of my income bracket.

I'm sort of advising, that MIGHT NOT be a 354, the "Dimples" are all
wrong for a 354 UNLESS they were home made.
