Gary,

My recollection is that the mid-to-late 1950?s Poly engines used the same bellhousing pattern on the top 4 bolts as the 1962+ Poly 318 and later ?LA? series engines, but the lower 2 bolts and dowel pins are in different locations. Also the crankshaft protrudes further back on those early engines and has an 8-bolt pattern, actually the same circle as the 426 Hemi. I?d suggest the easiest solution would be to use a 1962-1966 Poly 318 and mating Torqueflite ? If you?re focused on retaining the 303 engine you might want to contact Gary Stauffer in Bend Oregon; he has a company (Quality Engineered Components) that manufactures the bellhousing adapters to use the later Torqueflites behind the late 1950?s hemi engines plus others. I will see if I have his phone number for you if you?re not familiar with him.

You?ll have to also use the 1960-1964 shift cable to mate with that vintage aluminum-case Torqueflite.

The PARK brake on the rear is not a problem as all full-size Chryslers used that in 1962 as did pickup trucks up through 1964 or 1965. I have a few of those setups, but you may be able to find them in your locale.

I would like to adapt a 3 speed Torqueflight  Pushbutton  Transmission to my 56 Plymouth Fury with a 303 cu.in  V8 with Powerflight.   (same as 318)  What all do I have to do?

I would like  to use a 62 63 Alum. case for the weight loss and easer to find parts.  I also know I have to go to a 5 button controller.  I want to keep the Emergency Brake on the tail housing.   Any Ideas?

                                                               Thanks Gary Barker
