I brushed mine off with a nylon brush. Then I did 3 coats of white Fusion paint (spray paint) and it came out fine. I'm not sure if it's rustoleum or Krylon paint. It can go on paper, card board and wiker. I found the paint at Wal-Mart. I hope this helps!

I painted mine with SEM Super White 15103, a rattle can paint with a flex agent. Very good quality and very happy with results.

I brushed all the loose paint off beforehand with a stiff nylon bristled brush, such as one you would use to clean whitewall tires.
