I'll be doing some troubleshooting this morning and will try the suggestions 
presented starting from the easiest/cheapest and working my way up.  As 
usual, any further suggestions would still be most helpful.

Before the car totally petered out, it would start and run for a few seconds 
and then die.  For instance, I was trying to turn around at the time and 
made it about half way through the three (now 1.5) point turn (took me about 
three re-starts) and then nothing.  While sitting still, I did get it to 
start a couple more times for a few seconds each, but it would not stay 
running.  Not sure if this info helps to further narrow down any 
possibilities or not.  Seems like its getting fuel, at least fuel is making 
it into the filter.

I know I've seen it on here before, but can't remember, so where is a good 
source for replacement fuel filter elements for the glass bowl type filters? 
I may have a couple, but just in case...
