Re: [FWDLK] ETHANOL DAMAGE TO GASOLINE ENGINES

Chrysler used several different venders for replacement parts (and on the assembly line), many parts differ but still fall under the same part numbers.

Interesting that some of the spare sending units I have use cork as a float, while others use brass.

57 Plymouth, Chrysler - cork
59 Dodge (2 of them) - brass

Ron/all.

Mine has a brass float in the fuel tank. When I took apart Michelle’s fuel tank to repair the sender, it had exactly the same brass float. It had a hole in it and I managed to get one quite easily from a supplier on the net. I thought they were all brass…?

I agree with Ron that rather than trying to run away from this problem gas, to come up with solutions is more productive.

We should identify the REAL problems that the new fuels cause for our cars and come up with SOLUTIONS so that we can keep our cars on the road and trouble free. For example, I would replace all the rubber hoses on a vintage ride with ethanol-resistant ones. For the problem that Jim mentions concerning the cork tank floats, can we seal the cork with something like POR15 ? Worth investigating.
