Re: [FWDLK] 55/56 dodge door locks

Correct for 1956 door lock cylinder and key, Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler. The difference is the ‘56 has a small flap in the key slot that the key pushes open, the ‘55 has a cover that you have to rotate to the side in order to put the key in.

Dave’s right; the ‘56 keys have different grooves, at least the later ‘56’s. The door latches are a bugger to find, especially the left one; if you run across one grab it. I looked and looked before I found one.

The design of the ignition/door key was changed in 56. Also, the door latching mechanism was re-designed.

Are the door looks different in 1956 opposed to the 1955's? (Dodge 2 door hard top)

An eBay seller has two sets one states 55 the other states 56, but I thought they were interchangeable??? (this is the part that has a rod on one end and the key hole on the other end, what I am looking at has keys too.)
