The casting # will not tell you whether or not it's an original  G
transmission or not. You need to look at the numbers that are STAMPED onto
the machined pad on the right side of the oil pan rail. It's usually covered
in crud, so you can't see if anything is there at all. A G trans will have
"2204693" followed by 2 or 3 digits, then the 7 digit sequence #. I believe
the casting # on the trans in question was miss read. I have a digital
picture of a casting number on an F trans and it is 1854220-6. Close enough
to the one below to suggest a miss read.
