This website displays the available colors on Chryslers in 1961 and can be
searched for just about any make and year.  For '61, they show a nice
Sheffield Silver Poly and Mardi Gras Red, amongst others.  You do need to
make sure the color on the car exactly matches the paint code on the fender
tag.  WW-1 is Alaskan White and a pretty white-white, I believe.

The issue of changing colors to satisfy the current owner is an important
one in this club.  The impact of changing colors may be felt at concours
judging time and possibly at sale time-depending on the buyer.   As I
understand concours judging, incorrect paint is incorrect paint and demerits
are assessed accordingly-whether it is a half-tone off or plaid.  There
seems to be no reduced penalty for a color that was optional in the model
year of the car.  You will receive a lot of input and I urge you to read it
all carefully before making a decision.  One other thing you can do is go to
Google Images and punch in 1961 Chrysler and see a variety of colors to see

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and red evokes a different reaction in
humans and bulls from white.  Originality is a whole 'nuther issue.  There
were only 16,856 letter cars made and only 1,280 G coupes, so originality is
a much more important issue with your car than a '61 Chebby.  I'm surmising
that over 90% of the Chrysler 300's still kicking retain their original
paint shade.

 

Our car was painted an incorrect shade of "white" (technically Platinum) by
the previous owner and I was unaware of that fact or the issue when I bought
it.  Since then I've developed a small amount of buyer's remorse as I prefer
the Tango Red to the white or Platinum shade.  So my dilemma is whether to
redo a fair paint job in Platinum or switch to Tango Red while I'm at it.
I'm hoping to find an original Tango Red car and let mine go to someone who
appreciates the rather nice shade of white and does not care if it is
several shades off spec.  A picture of our car is attached for your viewing
pleasure.

 

Good thinking on coming to this group for input, varying as it may be.  It's
your car and your decision.  Most of us will respect whatever you do.

Hello Group. I brought my G a few months ago.It's off white and I'm
struggling with a color change decision. Red is what I'd love it to be. My
wife and friends say leave it white. Even strangers who stop to admire her
frown on a color change when asked. I'd like to ultimately show her and
white cars just do'nt seem to stand out like some of the others. I'd like to
stay true to the game,but white is... Has anyone ever seen a nice light
