The 276.1-cid V8 (hemi) engine with 160-bhp was installed in the 1951-52
DeSoto Firedome.

The 1936 Chrysler Airflow (C9), Airflow Imperial (C10) and Airflow Custom
Imperial (C11) all used the 323.5-cid flathead straight 8.  The DeLuxe 8
(C8) (non-Airflow) used a 273.5-cid eight, while the special-built Airflow
Custom Imperial (CW*) used a monterous 384.8-cid straight 8.

The Airflow, with 6.2:1 compression, cast iron head, put out 115 bhp @ 3400
and 240 ft-lbs torque @ 1200
The optional Airflow engine, with 6.5:1 compression, aluminum head, put out
120 bhp @ 3400 and 250 ft-lbs torque @ 1200
The Airflow Imperial / Custom Imperial, with 6.5:1 compression, aluminum
head, put out 130 bhp @ 3400 and 250 ft-lbs torque @ 1600
The optional Airflow Imperial / Custom Imperial engine, with 7.45:1
compression, aluminum head, put out 138 bhp @ 3400 and 265 ft-lbs torque @
1600


Now, if you are referring to torque as in tightening nuts, bolts, etc., the
earliest I have info is the 1940 engine (figures are for foot-pounds) :

Main bearing caps : 75 to 80
Main bearing cap screws : 80 to 85
Connecting rod nuts and cap screws - 3/8 inch :  45 to 50
Connecting rod nuts and cap screws - 7/16 inch : 50 to 75
Flywheel nuts : 55 to 60
Timing chain cover bolt : 12 to 17
Timing chain cover screw : 12 to 17
Vibration damper screw - 5/16 inch : 15 to 17
Vibration damper screw - 3/8 inch : 30 to 35
Cylinder head nuts - 7/16 inch : 52 to 57
Cylinder head nuts - 1/2 inch : 85 to 90
Cylinder head cap screws plain head : 65 to 70
Cylinder head cap screws cupped head : 67 to 72
Manifold stud nuts : 15 to 20
Spark plugs : 30 to 32

No mention is made of figures for cars with the aluminum head, which was
optional that year, but the service manual stated a final tightening and
checking of the head nuts should be conducted -
cast iron head : after engine has been run and is still warm
aluminum head : after has been run and cooled and is still cool.

Head tighenting sequence for the 8, with the spark plugs (1) to (8) on the
bottom half and the coolant outlet on the top right :

23 - - 17 - - 11 - -  5 - -  2 - -  8 - - 14 - - 20 - - 26

22 - - 16 - - 10 - -  4 - -  1 - -  7 - - 13 - - 19 - - 25
