RE: IML: 81/82 Imperial

Title: Message
Gentlemen,
My father had a 1982 Imperial Coupe, the EFI was a disaster and the factory, in response to a large number of these beauties sitting dead in dealer's lots offered a conversion kit. My dad and I went to the dealer in Orlando
and took possession of several huge cardboard boxes which included, a carb, intake manifold, gas tank...yes,
a gas tank, fuel pump, electronic conversion harness & everything else needed to do the conversion.
We ( two engineers ) swapped it all out and it runs fine to this day. I suspect you will find many 82's and perhaps some late 81's, that enjoyed this experience. The fender still sports a "EFI" plaque but it's running a 2 barrel
carb and all the gauges work.
Regards,
John Sills

You'll wanna check how they're set up under the hood. Either original EFI system, dealer converted, or like mine, without an engine management computer all together. I think it was done by some backyard mechanic or something, seems to be ok though, with the exception of a poor carb install (i think)

Today a lady ask if I would be interested in her fathers 81 & 82 Imperials, knowing of my interest in Imperials. At this point I don't know any more about them, but hope to take a look sometime this week.
What should I look for in these two models?
Anything special I should know about these two years?
Thanks
