Sorry, couldn't resist!  But seriously, it sounds like this one has cracked internally, and the fuel is leaking where you can't immediately see it.

Buy the Edelbrock and be done with it.  I bet you'll only buy one Edelbrock, as opposed to the four (so far) Thermoquads.
