If the factory brakes are working correctly, the conversion isn't 
necessary. That said, if that's what it takes to make you comfortable, 
then by all means go for it.

The original 1962 Imperial Center Plane Braking System, when properly 
maintained and adjusted, was among the best of its type. A brake job 
means a total rebuild with no short cuts. Even using a cheater on the 
bleeding operation will result in poor function. It must be done 
according to factory recommendations and exactly as outlined in the FSM.

The only one responsible for poor brakes is the person sitting behind 
the steering wheel, not other drivers on the road, or the manufacturer 
of the automobile.

Don't know how original you want to keep your car, but if you want to 
be able to drive it without having to worry about those idiots on the 
highway that love to pull out or cut in front of your Imperial, I would 
strongly recommend converting to disc brakes.  AAJ brakes (listed on 
the website) sells a kit that had everything I needed.  I've had them 
now for several months and can stop with confidence.
