I think you experienced a short circuit. Check under the hood. I believe that you will find more burned wires. The voltage regular wouldn't have likely been the cause. There are several other areas to look, both under the dash and under the hood. The wiring diagrams are very good. When you have time, you can trace through them and determine what went bad, then replace the wiring. The instrument cluster is easy to remove. You may find something there, but I suspect there will be lots of burned wires to and from the source of the trouble. If you have done any recent work, that might be a good place to start. I hope this helps. Nearly all the accessories are fuse protected. I would guess it is within the main power circuit.

The other day while driving my car at night suddenly I lost all power and my car filled with smoke. I noticed that both wires going to my amp meter and one wire to my ignition. burned up . what could have cause this to happen ?? any place I should look first I was thinking maybe it was the voltage regulator any clues thanks
