The bearings used in the automobile industry are standard bearings, and the
one used on our forward look cars are still produced by any leading bearing
manufacturer (SKF, TIMKEN, FAG, ...). Furthermore, much to my surprise, I
discovered a few weeks ago that they still use the bearing references used
in the '50s. So, what you need is a cross-reference table from the Mopar
references to the bearing manufacturer references, as found in Mopar parts
books (mine from '61 has a Mopar to TIMKEN cross-reference table) and then
a good look in your yellow pages to find a bearing distributor in your
area. The references seem to be normalized among manufacturers, so that a
M88010 TIMKEN reference (Mopar #1820551), for example, is found in the SKF
catalog under the K-M88010 reference. As the cross-reference table shows,
TIMKEN would seem to be the original equipment manufacturer at the time.

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good supplier of bearings, specifically transmission
bearings. After waiting 8 weeks for my local supplier in Auckland,NZ to
source the wrong bearings and of a quality not fit for my lawnmower, I was
hoping some of you knowledgeable people on the list may be able to point me
in the right direction.

The bearings I need are the input shaft to housing {part # 1672 194} & rear
mainshaft to housing {1633 718} for a '57-'59 Mopar 3-speed manual. Because
we have upped the engine hp, I would prefer to use a modern day, high load,
bearing as opposed to an NOS one.

I also have the numbers off the old bearngs if needed.
