[FWDLK] PHOENIX:Mid-winter's Day-DREAMING

I'm HARDLY the first one who's visited Phoenix, in the winter, for the
Barrett Jackson auction-festivities (happened to meet-up with
MoParite/Listite
Lou Vecchiani--guardian of Rose, the 59 Coro
D500) this weekend, BUT....

if yer teeth are chattering and yer feet are itching [try Anbesol and
Desinex] , I suggest
you and/or a friend book a flight to Phoenix, and reserve a 'car' @
Dollar, @ the airport, and a room or 2 (depending upon yer frienship),
@ either the Sweetwater Ave (closer to the 'action') or the Camelback
Rd (swankier locale)
Motel 6 , and go visit The 'northwest' Desert Valley old-car (ask them
about their new/secret
second location), and the 'southwest' Hidden Valley old-car wrecking
yards (pack a lunch!)

When was the last time you saw (eg:) 6-7 "well-optioned" , intact,
57-58 Dodges together? Hidden Valley's got @ least 1 61 DeSoto
[personally, I know of an intact "desert"
60 DeSoto 4-dr sedan, but the salvage yard will want to sell the entire
car].

Good news: no poison ivy/oak/sumac; bad news: BYO sun block &
anti-venin.

Also, in the vicinity of the Sweetwater Motel 6
is Malefors International, and Bo may like to show you around his FWDLK
resto digs--and, for a touch of 'humour', you can visit Memory Lane. I
dunno if 57 Heaven is still "there" (1 car of each MODEL, in year-1957).

If you visit next year, @ this time, there (used to be, @ any rate) a
"Scottsdale" auction, that was the week before B-J auction, but this
year, there was a (true) classic-car high-dollar 1-day
auction on Friday, @ the Biltmore Hotel.

and OH YEAH, on Sat day/nite there's a HUGE
"park-in" car-show (w/the smart-cars being prominently-parked the
night-before!) @ the east-side "Pavillions Mall", on Indian Bend Rd.

I understand that the car-guys congregate @ this 'spot' each Sat (across
from the "5-n-Diner"); but that the "really-big-shoe" occurs in honor of
the B-J festivities).

There also is an Ed Debevics (50's insanity-meets Rocky Horror)
restaurant, relatively close to Malefors' place, AND, in that
(varicous) vein, the town even features its own : "Freeway-to-Nowhere" ,
the highway engineers (finally!!!) completed a 'loop' system, all the
way around the city [ just don't try to get anywhere INSIDE the place,
quickly! ] , so that you can take a late nite 'high-speed' cruize, and
not worry about getting lost!

btw, this is all TRUE.

Neil V.
