Re: [FWDLK] Paint it Black/Love is Gray

Can't speak specifically about when Chrysler stopped using the gray. I
remember looking at a '55 or '56 300, and the color was body color pretty
much all over, in the engine compartment, trunk compartment, etc.

You can follow the DeSoto Club's discussion of this topic by going to
 http://www.desoto.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&meid=9
If you read through them all, you'll find some unintentionally wrong
information provided simply by people with cars that were done incorrectly,
or just simply not remembering correctly until they went out and actually
looked at the car out in the garage. I can say with confidence, though,
that DeSoto used the gray (especially on the inner fenders!) up through '57.
On Detroit built cars. One contributor to the DeSoto discussion has an
unmolested LA car that has gray fenders, but conventional wisdom says that
LA cars were semi-gloss black.
