Re: [FWDLK] Life's Lessons/The Shipping News

Several things are involved here. First is your choice of selection when you list the item. Insurance can be: Not offered, Optional, or Required, sellers choice. On the other hand, if the buyer is selling on ebay, he knows to insure if he wants and can add it when he pays. If he didn't or didn't ask you to add the cost in on any invoice you sent, it's mostly his problem. The fact that he buys and sells as a business on eBay pretty much leaves him out in the cold, he's not a "Newbie".

Also, in your description, you can add a disclaimer such as: "Once shipped I bear no responsibility for the safe delivery of this item. Therefore, if you want to insure it, please advise me to do so." Do it twice, once in all descriptions, and once in the "Additional Checkout Instructions" area. This area can be set to always display the same thing for each listing you make, tat is, it will automatically have whatever you want to have there. you can change it at will.

I use a "Mask" when listing for the Item description. I just copy it from my document area and past it into the listing. it has all my HTML code and I just fill in the item info. Makes it much faster to list and keeps it looking nice. Any special info can be made a part of this "Mask" I NOW have a disclaimer that most items are bought at auction and I don't warrant them unless otherwise noted in the description. thats thanks to a jerk who bought an unused 50 year old electric sprayer and thought he would be able to paint his car with it. Sold as a display item. Only dispute I ever had in 10 years or more of selling on eBay.

Here is a problem I ran into. I sold a part on Ebay and the buyer, who has a business in selling Mopar parts, won the auction. He didn't say he wanted insurance, so I sent it, but did not do a delivery confirmation. He says he did not get the part. Thats been over 2 months now. My mistake was not to do a delivery confirmation. I have never lost a part in the mail and have sent parts world wide for quite a few years. Am I liable to reimburse him because the mail system didn't get it to him (OR did they). He did have an Ebay Dispute on this but that was closed because it was over 45 days. The buyer now has the right to file a formal Fraud Complaint with eBay Trust & Safety for this transaction. So what do I do in a case like this when I really don't know if he got the part and is trying to snooker me.
