IML: 56 Southhampton Interior Fabric

I purchased enough fabric from SMS Fabric in Canby, Oregon to cover the inserts of my front and rear seats, $89 per yard. I ordered the color “Gray” just like my original seats had; the leather/vinyl trim is white/pearl and gray. The dash is gray, and matches the trim color.

I took the car seats to the upholstery guy this week and, low and behold, the fabric is a very nice green color. I called SMS and they indicated that this was the correct fabric, that dye lots vary and unless they have fabric from another dye lot, there isn’t anything they can do.

I would love to have original fabric in the car, but the color is way off from the trim color of gray; the fabric truly is a light green. Any suggestions about other sources of original “eagle” fabric? If not, does anyone have a suggestion of other fabrics that might be of the same period but gray, in color, not green?

I have sent the chrome off for plating and am trying to get everything back as original as possible. Incidentally, the car is black with a white top.
